Fil-Global Passes the ISO 9001:2015 1st Surveillance Audit

An ISO certification is a way of proving the credibility and trustworthiness of a company, either between clients or business partners.

The process can be rigorous. But since the boost in productivity positions the business in a competitive advantage, many strive to become ISO certified and maintain the credential.

As for Fil-Global on its 9001:2015 1st surveillance audit, we’re happy to share the good news that the company was recommended for the preservation of the certificate! If you’re wondering what this means to you as a service user, read here and find out the relevance.

What is the ISO 9001:2015 certification?

ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for a quality management system (QMS).

Simply put, the main goal is to ensure that the products or services consistently meet the client's needs, and for the organization to experience increased efficiency.

The ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit

A business undergoes a documentation and certification audit before an on-site surveillance audit happens. To ensure that the standards are satisfactorily met, a periodic review through a surveillance audit is performed by the authorized auditors.

Through the surveillance audit, key processes are checked including the company’s management review, internal audit, and corrective actions. When the auditing body is satisfied with the results, the certification will remain as is.

Fil-Global ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit Results

Passing the surveillance audit doesn’t mean that the company audited will come out with no flaws. Since the objective is centered on continuous improvement, Fil-Global humbly accepts the areas identified for development and commits to the submission of corrective action plans.

Since the company promotes transparency, we would like to share with you the details of the surveillance audit results:

Opportunities for Improvement (I)

The findings suggest that the Standards were implemented effectively, but there were processes in 5 different areas recommended for improvement:

  • Management (QMS) - development of efficient monitoring of production or service output as there is no straightforward method of verification or mode of measurement.

  • Risk and Opportunity - the actions identified by the top management to address opportunities were advised for a criteria rating to avoid contradictions with the risk.

  • HR - appropriate control on information distribution, access, retrieval, and use was determined as the main areas to work on in this department.

  • Management (Regulatory and Statutory) - updated permits on sanitary, safety seal, and data privacy act are yet to be checked on the next audit, although electronic permits showed pending inspection.

  • Programmes and Sales (2) - the need for improved consistency in the documentation of the Predeparture Orientation Seminar (PDOS) checklist were pointed out. As for sales, timely analysis and evaluation of ROI were encouraged. This is to determine the effectiveness of the action plan and to inspect whether new strategies need to be implemented.

Minor Nonconformity (MiN)

A minor nonconformance involves a situation that shows a failure to meet some of the ISO 9001 standard requirements, but with no major consequences. A minor nonconformity also doesn’t hinder the capability of the management system to reach the desired results.

During the Fil-Global ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit, findings show that there were 2 areas, particularly in the HR and Internal Audit, requiring improvement. The results identified in need of rectification are as follows:

  • Lack of application on Training Needs Analysis.

  • Lapses in the conduct of Training Evaluation Effectiveness.

  • Absence of an established system for control of changes.

  • Poor identification of clauses for each raised nonconformity.

  • Delayed evaluation of the effectiveness of corrective actions.

Nonconformity (N)

Nonconformity is the inability to meet a single or couple of standard requirements of the management system, without the capability to attain the aimed results.

Nonconformance isn’t necessarily identified as a negative issue, especially if it’s a rare incident. However, repeated failures can be a source of concern since it depicts a high level of weakness in quality management. Not to mention, this may result in re-certification problems.

As for Fil-Global, we are pleased to announce a zero nonconformity case on the 1st ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit! We thank each employee in our department for their dedication and hard work, and for taking part in this success!
